About Alexander
How his yoga journey began
Alexander is based in Berlin, Germany and began his path into yoga many years ago during his PhD studies. Looking for inner peace and a closer connection with nature, he first practiced Vinyasa Yoga and gradually got fascinated by the spirit of Ashtanga Yoga. He practices Ashtanga almost daily and loves to share his passion and knowledge about it.
Alexander is a Certified Yoga Teacher and completed the 500 hours teacher training, according to the standards of the Yoga Alliance. He is also ambassador for Yogigo. To him, Yoga is not just a healthy hype, but a philosophy of life with the constant challenge of integrating the eight-limbed path of Ashtanga into daily life. Yoga is an important part of a mindful, non-violent and sustainable life and teached him to be more attentive to himself and his social and natural environment. Besides Yoga, Alexander loves long and healthy brunches, inspiring conversations and travelling to natural places 😊.

About Astral Yoga
Inspired by Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Yin Yoga
Alexander is fascinated by the beauty of the unique nature and universe around us. Astral Yoga symbolizes his philosophy of yoga, which unites our body and our mind with the endless luminaries and combines the best of Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Yin in one class:
- Ashtanga creates energy in your body and promotes strength and muscle gain.
- Vinyasa helps you to get back into the flow and improves your mobility and flexibility.
- With Yin you learn to relax and to reduce everyday stress.
Yoga enables us to connect much closer with nature and teaches us how to become more respectful towards fellow humans. In the end it comes down to the fact that we all are made of stardust, connected to each other and just visitors on this planet. Let’s be grateful and make the best out of the time we have here.
Astral Yoga combines the practise of Vinyasa, Yin and in particular Ashtanga Yoga, which means “eight-limbed path” and goes back to Tirumalai Krishnamacharya and his student Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Ashtanga can be understood as a holistic approach to a sustainable and meaningful life. It teaches us how to develop our spiritual path on eight essential limbs:
- Yama (guidline for moral behaviour)
- Niyama (self-discipline)
- Asana (physical practice)
- Pranayama (breath control)
- Pratyahara (withdrawal to senses)
- Dharana (concentration and focus)
- Dhyana (pure consciousness and meditation)
- Samadhi (unity and no duality)
The sessions with Alex will be based on these eight limbs.
